During the XII century, the architectural advances of the Gothic period allowed greater and greater openings in cathedrals and church windows.Then, the size increased until it reached it´s greatest dimensions, the entire width of the nave.
What is the meaning behind a rose window?. Numbers had a metaphysical significance,and were thought to have occult power. The symbolic geometry is found in the circles, squares, triangles, stars, and of course, the 12 major divisions of the rose windows. All, point to the finite and infinite, earth and heaven, or matter and spirit. Let´s find out the numerical significance in one of the most beautiful rose window of the Gothic period in whole Europe.

Durante el siglo XII los avances arquitectónicos del período gótico permitieron crear cada vez mayores aberturas para las ventanas de catedrales e iglesias. El tamaño de éstas, y de los rosetones, aumentó hasta conseguir la máxima dimensión: el ancho total de la nave. ¿Qué significado esconde un rosetón?. Los números tenían un significado metafísico y se pensaba que tenían poderes ocultos. La simbología geométrica en círculos, cuadrados, triángulos y estrellas, nos indican lo finito y lo infinito, el cielo y la tierra, la materia y el espíritu.
